I support the movement towards change in our community by doing and promoting anti-racism work. I stand in solidarity with protestors, healers, and community members advocating for justice. I believe that Black Lives Matter. I also recognize that racism in America extends far deeper than police brutality and the most recent unnecessary deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and countless others. While I, as a clinician, work to be inclusive and supportive of my clients, I also recognize that simply providing a safe space is not enough. I am committed to continued activism, learning, listening, and educating in honor of my past, present, and future clients.

We live only in the present, in this fleeting instant: all the rest of life is either past and gone or not yet revealed.

Individual Counseling

Individual counseling is a safe and supportive space for you to identify and focus on the complicated issues that you want to address in your life. This often includes themes such as:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Relationships
  • Gender Identity
  • Sexuality
  • Empowerment
  • Codependency
  • Boundaries
  • Trauma
  • Life Transition
  • Emotion Regulation
  • Self Esteem
  • Communication
  • Family of Origin

During this time of COVID, and for individuals who face barriers coming into my office in person at any time, I offer individual counseling services remotely via Video Counseling. If you plan to use insurance for your counseling services, you will want to first ensure that your insurance covers telemedicine services. I access all video counseling services via the HIPAA compliant ZOOM telemedicine platform. In order to participate in video counseling, you will need access to a computer (or other device connected to the internet) with a camera and microphone.

Move your body while you talk. Studies show that some of the most important conversations happen while in motion. According to cognitive scientist, Yale professor, and host of The Happiness Lab, Dr. Laurie Santos, one of the 5 most important contributors to well-being is exercise. I offer the opportunity to combine exercise with mental health services. Meet at my office and spend your session outside moving your body while we address your mental health goals.

Consultation Services

I provide consultation to mental health and other allied professionals, parents and guardians.

I am certified as a Child Mental Health Specialist and provide consultation services to parents and guardians, as well as clinical counselors working with children.

  • Parents and Guardians: As a parent or guardian I believe that you are doing the very best that you can to nurture and make decisions to best help support your child. I also know that it can be challenging to know what you are doing right and what alternatives might work for more desired outcomes. My work is to support you in all you are doing well, and to provide alternatives to support your work.
  • Clinical Counselors: I provide clinical consultation for clinicians who serve this minor population. I am skilled in consultation of clinicians just starting work with children and adolescents, as well as clinicians with more experience working with this population. You may be stuck with a particular question, or you may be looking to add new interventions to your practice. Consultation can be a valuable resource for clinical brainstorming and furthering your personal practice.

This includes working with therapists and professionals who want to better understand sexuality as an orientation, gender as an identity, and how to better support their sexual and gender diverse clients. This might include broad questions regarding gender dysphoria, or more specific questions regarding supporting your clients as they navigate medical transitions and access other types of gender affirming care. I assist professionals in understanding the basics of letter writing, insurance policies, and understanding the standards of care as outlined by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH).

Supervision Services

I am recognized as a Mental Health Therapy Supervisor in the states of Utah (2018) and Washington (2011). I meet all the requirements for Utah and Washington state approved supervisors and have advanced clinical supervision training.

I am approved to meet the supervision requirement for ACMHC (associate clinical mental health counselor) in Utah, and LMHCA (Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associates) in Washington. Before we begin supervision, please contact the Department of Licensing/Department of Health to determine you are an associate in good standing or to set up your associate license.

I require all supervision candidates to meet for an initial interview in order to make a mutual decision regarding whether we will work together. I also require all supervisees to carry their own personal liability insurance throughout our time working together, and to sign a state-approved supervision contract and disclosure.

Supervision may occur individually or triadically (including myself and 2 supervisees) depending on preference and need.
